Nico vai receber no domingo o trféu Lorenzo Bandini, uma das mais respeitadas premiassões do esporte a motor. Entrevista sobre a premiação feita pelo NicoRosberg.com

Nico, on Sunday you will receive the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy, one of the most respected honours in motor sport. How do you feel?

“It’s a very special moment for me. When I look down the list of previous winners, it’s like seeing a ‘who’s who’ for motor sport fans. I am honoured to receive this year’s prize, and really looking forward to the trip to Italy. I enjoy the culture, the country and the people – my best friends are all Italians.”

You are receiving the prize for your performance with MERCEDES GP PETRONAS in 2010. Does that make you proud?

“Proud is not the right word. I am grateful for the opportunity to drive a Silver Arrow, and pleased that I was able to deliver good performances. But I will only feel proud once I have achieved many successes in Formula One. This prize is an added incentive to work even harder on myself and with my team to improve. It’s a boost, and additional motivation.”

What do you know about Lorenzo Bandini?

“He was known as a very talented driver, but was also competing in one of the most competitive eras of Formula 1, with rivals like Jim Clark, Graham Hill and Dan Gurney. He won his first Formula 1 race at the 1964 Austrian GP in Spielberg, and also won the 24 hour races in Le Mans and Daytona. He unfortunately died much too young, in an accident at the Monaco chicane in 1967. But before that he had achieved three podiums in four races at Monte-Carlo.”
