Among friends

It's useless to compare F1 to Nascar. In the other genre the development goes forward so fast that the hair doesn't stay on the head - like we can see from F1-world's genious Adrian Newey.
In Nascar again the rules have been kept sacred. Why? Because simple rules are so easy to supervise. So why change them!
In F1 I have seen many times how the competition between drivers can strain their relationships often to the point that they break. It's very rare to see drivers having friendship-relations.
The current Nascar-star Juan Pablo Montoya was a real grump in F1-circles. It was public knowledge how he and Jacques Villeneuve hated each other. Aswell as it was public knowledge how Montoya finally lost his nerves after doing his everything to destroy Räikkönen's ice-cool peace of mind.
In Nascar the drivers get close, it can't be helped. Nothing is secret. When a competitor goes to chat with another one on the paddock, anybody can stand beside and listen without the drivers being disturbed over the uninvited guest.
I heard that during the short time when Villeneuve and Montoya drove in Nascar at the same time the men seemed to be best buddies. Villeneuve has given up his dreams to get to the top in this most popular motorsport in America but he will still drive his home race in Canada in summer.
It was also quite astonishing to see how Montoya showed up in Räikkönen's pit after the first practice. The men chatted more relaxed than they ever did in McLaren's pits.
Montoya said that Räikkönen had chosen the wrong place for his debut race because on Charlotte's oval each curve is different and this oval is so to speak filled with traps for rookies that the experienced foxes can trick into flashy drivings off the track.
Montoya gave this message as a friend. The man himself is aiming for the one million dollar prize in Saturday's all star -race remarkably calm. At least Nascar has obviously done some good for Montoya. And here nobody comes to gloat if the liking for hamburgers shows on the waist..
