GP-points for ICE1RACING
– both Söderberg and Tiainen on points
The second GP in the Motocross World Championship was raced in record high temperatures in summer conditions in Valkenswaard, Holland during Easter weekend. Sandy track suited Finns - Ludde Söderberg got the first ICE1RACING motocross GP-points by placing 19th in the first race of MX2 and continued with solid performance in the second race by placing 16th. ICE1RACING had to substitude the injured rider Toni Eriksson with ICE1RACING junior team rider Santtu Tiainen in MX1. Tiainen succeeded in his GP debut well by placing 23rd in his class, in the first race he was 25th and in the second race he was 20th and took a GP-point in his first GP event. The team owner Kimi Räikkönen was also following the race with his team.
The second GP event was raced on the sandy track of Valkenswaard near the ICE1RACING summer training center in Lommel, Belgium. The Easter weekend GP was held in hot conditions and the high temperatures drew in Dutch fans, also the team owner Kimi Räikkönen was following the race. ”It was great to see the riders in action and it’s looking good. The results are getting better from race to race, that’s our plan”, said pleased Räikkönen.
Ludde Söderberg started his second event in the GP by taking the first GP-points for ICE1RACING and placing 19th in the first race in MX2. ”It feels really great”, said happy Söderberg after the first race. In the second race Söderberg succeeded even better and placed 16th. ”I was able to be more relaxed in the second race. Even though I had a bad start, I was able to rise and in the end I hold my position. I want to thank my family and the team for this.”
In MX2 Jeffrey Herlings won both the races, Ken Roczen was second in both the races and Tommy Searle was third in both the races. The Finn Harri Kullas was seventh in both the races.
Due to injury Toni Eriksson was replaced by ICE1RACING junior team rider Santtu Tiainen, who rode his first ever GP in Holland. ”The first start was bad, so I struggled and fought through the race”, commented Tiainen his 25th place. In the second race Tiainen placed 20th and took one GP-point. ”It was great to open the GP with points, really great”, said happy Tiainen.
MX1 was won by Antonio Cairoli with great win in the first race and second place in the second race. Second in the race was Maximilian Nagl and third in the GP was David Philippaerts.
