Notícias do campeão do mundo, The Real:
Button - Not so good
Button - Not so good
Jenson Button's competitive debut for McLaren left the World Champion eighth on the grid for Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix and admitting his new team lack the pace of Red Bull and Ferrari.
Button was also outpaced by new team-mate Lewis Hamilton who, in turn, claimed that he was "overwhelmed" with his fourth place on the grid - a further indication perhaps that the Woking team are not where they might have wished.
Struggling for performance throughout qualifying, Button complained afterwards that his car "felt wrong" and needed to be looked at.
His time was almost half a second slower than Hamilton's best and nearly 1.5 seconds slower than the time of polesitter Sebastian Vettel.
"I struggled with wheels locking up in this afternoon's session and although I felt things were improving, there was something wrong with the car," Button said. "We need to look at the car and see what it is."
Button hid his disappointment well, but it was clear he and McLaren were not close to challenging the frontrunners.
He explained: "Lewis is up in fourth which is not such a bad position, but when you look at the difference in lap time to P1 it's massive - over one second - so it's a big surprise.
"I think Red Bull are very, very fast and even the Ferraris couldn't stay with them in qualifying."
Button was faced with the prospect of being knocked out during the second session but produced a late lap to reach the top 10 shootout.
"My first run in Q2, I was in traffic and the second one was a bit better," he added. "It was getting better and better every lap so I was reasonably happy but at the end of the day, it wasn't so good."
