Entrevista à ITV

Depois de dois dias de testes com a Ferrari em Hockenheim, o campeão do mundo disse que os resultados foram "razoavelmente satisfatórios". Kimi Räikkönen trabalhou em atualizações aerodinâmicas e outros componentes mecânicos que focam o acerto do f2008 para a etapa alemão que acontece dia 20.

"Estou razoavelmente satisfeito com a maneira como as coisas funcionaram nesses dois dias. Nós tentamos encontrar um bom ajuste para o carro, visando a corrida da próxima semana. Acho que estaremos competitivos aqui, assim como estamos sendo ao longo da temporada. Velocidade não nos falta, mas algumas vezes não conseguimos reunir os elementos necessários para explorar todo o potencial que temos à disposição."

Amanhã, último dia dos treinos, Felipe Massa estará no comando do carro de Maranello, enquanto Kimi Räikkönen viaja para Bruxelas, onde participará de um evento da Conferência da Juventude Européia (European Youth Conference) sobre Segurança nas Estradas, e que acontecerá na sede do Comissão Européia, no Edifício Berlaymont.

Segue abaixo para vocês, uma entrevista que Räikkönen deu hoje à ITV. Traduzi algumas partes que acho que devem ser destacadas, porque de resto ele falou que testou novos componentes no carro, e aquele "blá blá blá" de sempre...

Kimi Raikkonen may not have had an answer for Lewis Hamilton's blistering pace over the first two days of the Hockenheim test, but the Finn was nonetheless satisfied with the set-up work Ferrari carried out ahead of the German Grand Prix. Speaking to reporters at the circuit, he also defended his actions in pushing over a photographer who he felt provoked him on the grid at the British Grand Prix.

Q: How has your work gone today?
Kimi Raikkonen: Not too bad. We had a small issue with the car but we fixed it. We’re just trying different things on the set-up side and it seems to be working quite well so far.

Q: Are you confident you have found a good set-up?
KR: We will see at the race next weekend. We always try different things and if we find something useful for sure we are going to use it. But it’s always difficult to say how it is going in testing.
At least we know what we are doing and I’m pretty happy with how the car is feeling.

Q: McLaren have set the pace at this test; do you expect them to be particularly strong here?
KR: I don’t know. I haven’t looked at what lap times they are doing; we have enough work to do ourselves.
For sure McLaren will be fast here, but I think we have a good package too. We haven’t lost any speed – we just need a good clean weekend.

Q: They call you the ‘Ice Man’ but we saw you defending your privacy forcibly against a photographer on the grid at Silverstone… (Eles te chamam de Iceman mas vimos você defendendo sua privacidade à força contra um fotógrafo no grid em Silverstone...)
KR: He came on top of my helmet, I had my stuff there, so I pushed him a bit and he fell on his back. (Ele veio para cima do meu capacete, eu tinha minhas coisas ali, então eu o empurrei um pouco e ele caiu para trás).
People try to make a big thing out of it, but he shouldn’t come on top of my stuff. It was just a small thing and people tried to make a big story out of it. (As pessoas tentam criar uma situação com relação a isso, mas ele não deveria ter vindo para cima das minhas coisas. Foi um pequeno incidente e as pessoas tentaram fazer disso uma grande confusão).

Q: Don’t you feel Ferrari is wasting the advantage it has over the other teams? (Você acha que a Ferrari está perdendo a vantagem com relação aos outros times?)
KR: I don’t know what you mean…(Não entendi o que você quis dizer...)

Q: I mean that the car has been really strong, but due to some incidents you have not scored the points that you probably expected… (Eu quis dizer que o carro tem sido realmente forte, mas devido a alguns incidentes você não pontuou como esperava...)
KR: Of course we were not so happy with the results we got in the end, but we got back into the joint lead of the championship. (É claro que não estamos felizes com os resultados que tivemos no final, mas voltamos à liderança do campeonato).
Probably we should have got more points but we made a mistake – it happens in racing. It’s not the first time and unfortunately it’s not going to be the last time, but it’s just part of the game and we need to learn from it. (Provavelmente poderíamos ter conseguido mais pontos, mas cometemos erros - acontece em corridas. Não é a primeira vez e infelizmente não será a última, mas faz parte do jogo e precisamos aprender com isso).
We have a strong team, we’re pushing hard and people expect us to win every race but it’s not easy. (Temos uma equipe forte, estamos nos esforçando ao máximo e as pessoas esperam que vençamos cada corrida, mas não é fácil).
For sure we are going to start winning again soon and we’ll just keep working hard. (Com certeza vamos voltar a vencer e continuaremos a trabalhar duro).

Q: McLaren tried a new shark fin engine cover here – aren't you curious to try it? (McLaren testou uma nova bigorna aqui - não está curioso para testá-la também?)
KR: I don’t want to try their parts! We do our own thing and we put effort into what we think are the key things. (Eu não quero testar peças deles. Nós temos nossas próprias coisas e temos posto nosso esforço no que achamos que são as coisas mais importantes).
We will see what we will do in the future, but like I said we are pretty happy with what we have done here trying different things. (Veremos o que faremos no futuro, mas eu gostaria de dizer que estou bem feliz com o que temos feito que é testar coisas diferentes).
I haven’t seen what McLaren are doing or even put any effort into that; we have our own things to look at and that’s much more important. (Eu não vi o que a McLaren tem feito e nem me esforcei para isso; temos nossas próprias coisas para cuidar e é isso que é o mais importante).

Q: Do you like driving at Hockenheim and does it suit the Ferrari? (Você gosta de pilotar em Hockenheim e ele é bom para Ferrari?)
KR: We are quite happy how things went today. Yesterday was more difficult due to the weather. The circuit is nice – I always enjoy it here – but it’s too early to say where we are against the others. But the feeling in the car is pretty good, which is always a nice sign. (Estamos bem felizes como as coisas se saíram hoje. Ontem foi mais difícil devido ao tempo. O circuito é legal - Eu gosto daqui - mas é muito cedo para dizer onde estamos com relação aos outros. Mas a sensação com o carro é muito boa, o que é sempre um bom sinal).
